Amazing! idk if you're new to guitars and tabs, but in 2020 there's tons of bass lessons over youtube and internet. If you want to progress quickly in any instrument you should at least practice 1 hour per day. It's hard at first but The secret is to be patient, work with a metronome, slowly and then increase speed gradually. While you learn basics, learn slap also: best technique ever!

When I was a teenager I wanted to be in a band but I couldn't play an instrument, so I asked my best friends if they wanted to create a band with me. So we formed a noob band and for a year we were really bad. But after 2 years we had learned to play together and we were doing concerts.
So my advice is not to wait to be in a band but to create your own metal band. Just be your own dynamic!
