what you do not see

There are forces at work, forces that have been at work and will work 1000 years after the memories of those who remembered you have rotted.
They hide beneath a soggy rock. They hide behind a child's ear. They hide inside a seashell, where you can hear their "whish, whish, whish"-ing
They move our bodies like a persistent wind in an ancient desert- we the often unwilling grains of sand blown this way and that.
And how dare you choose to ignore them! They, who envelop all and yet we choose to worship what is of our own creation!
But they do not know or care. They too were put here unknowingly, unwittingly, and persist in what is imaginary.
And I will sit here and wallow at what you do not see.

anticipation

I have a wonderful feeling that we are on the verge of great things. Like something is about to happen to the entire world, maybe not at the same time, but eventually it will be a part of each one of us. The world is shedding the layers of stupor from laying dormant since the early part of this century, and waking up again. It's really weird to be feeling like this because everything is on fire, there is a pandemic and Trump and Putin are both presidents, but even despite this I feel hope for humanity like never before. It reminded me of this quote from Horace that I had to write an essay about in AP English two years ago- "Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which, in prosperous circumstances, would have lain dormant" and like, well duh Horace, you don't have to be a classical philosopher to know that, but I now can really feel this happening, and it reminds me of that. 1979 by smashing pumpkins used to make me super depressed, but now it makes me feel like how I feel about the world, like it's all just beginning...............
