Edge of the World by Within Temptation
Right now it's Shakin' Off The Rust by The Blue Stones. It's just so vibey. But my all time favourite is Superstition by The Birthday Massacre
The Birthday Massacre - Parallel World has made me cry, and usually does make me feel like it even if I don't
Just anything vibey, and loud enough to hear, like rock and electronic songs (Grimes, Nigh Club, etc)
I have a soft playlist to help me sleep on the plane. It consists of mostly Mazzy Star and instrumentals. But when I want to meditate I listen to 'fairy music' playlists on youtube haha.
I have a playlist of the pop songs that I like. Most of them are from before 2010, when most of the top hits were actually good and didn’t all sound the same. It's my guilty pleasure because 'mainstream' people would be like "wtf you still listen to that?" if they heard me play it, when in reality songs that are only like 8 years old is NOT old in the rock/alternative community lol. Songs simply do not age.
Hmmmm, I don't openly dislike any artists, but I was not a huge fan of Avril's last album (Head Above Water), except I Fell In Love With The Devil, but I DO love her new feature with MOD SUN - Flames. I will always hardcore stan her older music though, especially The Best Damn Thing
Bring Me The Horizon! I couldn’t get into their first 3 albums, but now I definitely am and they're my favourite band with a male singer. Didn’t start noticing them more until That’s The Spirit, then I went back and listened to Sempiternal which is obviously amazing.
Yeah, but usually just around the house or in the car.
No CommentPick 7 artists/bands that you love before reading the questions:
1.) The Birthday Massacre
2.) Evanescence
3.) Jazmin Bean
4.) Melanie Martinez
5.) Trees of Eternity
6.) Nightwish
7.) Digital Daggers
What was the first song you ever heard by 1?
(The Birthday Massacre) I think it was Looking Glass! My sister showed me the music video on youtube in 2010 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SREZ-ggSDjM) and we got so obsessed.
What is your favourite song of 7?
(Digital Daggers) Razor's Edge. A song I strongly relate too, plus it's got beautiful production and Andrea's voice is so nice.
What kind of impact has 1 left on your life?
(The Birthday Massacre) A HUGE impact. My life changed completely because of discovering them, both personally and aesthetically. I began to look deeper into the corruption of the schooling system and other people while listening to their album Walking with Strangers. And generally, as I've grown older, I feel that all their albums have matched the theme of my life as they've been released. Their aesthetic is very colourful goth and that really inspired me, to the point where if I ever feel like I'm falling off track or losing who I am, I revisit the style I formed inspired by them and find myself at home again.
What are your favourite lyrics of 5?
(Trees of Eternity) Woah, like their entire album (Hour of the Nightingale). Basically all of the lyrics of Sinking Ships, and this line from the title track (about death, as this album was written as the singer was dying from cancer):
"Grief will haunt those who forget
That night is not the end
Embrace this as a nightingale in song"
How many times have you seen 4 live?
(Melanie Martinez) Actually never. I'm not sure I would go even if she did come here tbh. Not my crowd. I'm kinda a fan from a distance.
What is your favourite song by 6?
(Nightwish) "The Crow, the owl, the dove" and all of the instrumental tracks from Human :||: Nature
Is there a song by 3 that makes you sad?
(Jazmin Bean) Hmm, Yandere, but in a strange way. More that it just makes me feel A LOT, because it came to me at a time where my feelings were so intense, and I realised how much I cared about someone so hearing this song, I feel it 100%
What is your favourite song by 2?
(Evanescence) Wow, so many. This is so cliche but nothing will beat the level of Going Under. But more personally, I am closest to Lithium, All That I'm Living For and Together Again.
When did you first get into 5?
(Trees of Eternity) 2018. I found them in a playlist of songs like Nightwish - Dark Passion Play. I heard My Requiem first, then immediately listened to the rest of the album. I didn't know the singer, Aleah Starbridge, had actually died until a few weeks later.
How did you get into 3?
I found her (Jazmin Bean) song Worldwide Torture on spotify. I can't remember how, it must have come up on radio, but I loved it SO much, it's still my favourite by her. I listened to her other songs and loved them all too, plus her aesthetic is so cool.
What is your favourite song by 4?
(Melanite Martinez) Cake, Highschool Sweethearts, Pacify Her, Brain and Heart!
What is a good memory concerning 2?
(Evanescence) a) listening to them the most in high school, on the bus to and from school, and usually on my ipod nano before I went to sleep! It was so calming for some reason haha. b) when I saw their Synthesis concert! Best music experience I've ever had, I could almost cry.
Is there a song by 6 that makes you sad?
(Nightwish) Slow, Love, Slow makes me emotional at the end when it gets heavy for some reason. Taikatalvi makes me emotional too
