I picked an EVGA GTX 1060 3GB and a Thermaltake Smart 430W 80+ Power Supply to support it
My Inspiron 3670 currently has a GTX 1050 2GB and a proprietary Dell power supply.
So yeah, I put everything in the case--swapped out the 1050 for the 1060 and plugged in the new PSU and...
Oh, you have to be fucking kidding me.

Dell has their own version of the ATX SYS connector that isn't compatible with the PSU I litterally just bought.
Give me uh, 2 days, that's when the adapter should arrive in the mail. I was really excited to upgrade today so it's a bit of a bummer, but that's my fault for not doing enough research.
Kur | 1603290453000 and this went for 40 ish on amazon btw |
Kur | 1603290331000 yeah i heard plugging pci into cpu fries the shit out of it, dw i made sure to avoid that. I put my computer back together the way it was before the upgrade attempt and it still works (i'm posting from it, infact) so all is well. |
Obamas Cock | 1603248471000 Also just a bit of advice from someone who has done a bit of pc building, be careful with psu adapters they can fry your mobo. |
Obamas Cock | 1603248305000 I had one maybe it was defective, but it went out in like 7 months. I had the right wattage and everything. Plus they are really cheap like I got mine for like 70 bucks on amazon. |
Kur | 1603240447000 what's so bad about thermaltake? |
Kur | 1603240424000 because it was recommended to my by a psu calculator website also yes the 1060 3gb has a 6 pin atx port, that PSU supports it |
Obamas Cock | 1603218813000 Dude lol thats a 24 pin one lol ik it wouldnt work as soon as i saw what model |
Obamas Cock | 1603218976000 Btw why did you get a thermaltake psu those are straight trash and another question does the 1060 require an external connection |
