the brain is weird! i have spent quite some time trying to learn russian (spoiler: it didn't go well and i don't remember like 97% of what i tried to learn) and...my brain refused to memorise basic phrases, but decided that words like велосипед (bicycle) are very important and that i should remember them.
i mean,, okay? but how often will i use велосипед in a sentence?
much to think about!
of course, i know a couple (read as: very few) basic words/phrases like привет (hello) and как поживаете? (how are you?), but noooo. the most important words are words like велосипед and рюксак (backpack).
...i'm glad i at least memorised the cyrillic script back in 2017.
oh i felt this. i tried to learn dutch a while ago and i remember stupid stuff like turtle (schildpad) plus basic phrases like hello, i am _____, etc. but absolutely nothing else
Man, I want to learn Russian so bad. I'm in the same boat as you
